The Larson Gallery will present the annual Yakima Valley College Department of Visual Arts (DoVA) exhibition from April 30 through May 25. This annual exhibit presents artwork in a variety of media created within the last year by students. Student work is chosen from Spring and Fall quarters of 2023 and Winter quarter of 2024 at Yakima Valley College.
Works in the show were created by students in classes including ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and design. A large selection of the students’ best work makes this one of the favorite exhibitions of the year and a wonderful opportunity to purchase art. In addition to student artwork, each instructor will have a piece in the exhibit showing the creativity of their own personal work.
“The partnership with the Larson Gallery is very important for not only exhibiting student work but also for arts education and providing an opportunity for students to view a diversity of art media and artistic voices,” said Instructor Monika Lemmon.
YVC’s art program fosters an awareness of the making of art as well as the interpretation and development of art across cultures and time, and the relevance of art to daily experience. The partnership between the college and the gallery provides an avenue for college faculty and students to showcase their artwork in a professional gallery each year.
An opening reception will be held 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 and the show runs through May 25. There is no charge for admission to the gallery. For more information about this show contact the gallery at 509.574.4875 / gallery@yvcc.edu.
