Community members interested in continuing their education can get hands-on assistance during Yakima Valley College’s upcoming Express Admit Days, with multiple dates scheduled to help people start classes in Summer or Fall quarters.

The Express Admit Days, taking place on both the Yakima and Grandview campuses, provide new students with one-on-one assistance completing the application process, starting an application for financial aid, and completing math and English placement. The events are family-friendly and no appointment is needed.

Express Admit Days — Yakima Campus (S. 16th Ave & Nob Hill Blvd)

  • May 30* — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., please check-in by 5 p.m., Deccio Higher Education Center (Building #8)
  • August 1 — 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., please check-in by 5 p.m., Deccio Higher Education Center (Building #8)

Express Admit Days – Grandview Campus (500 W. Main Street)

  • June 26* — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Grandview Main (Building #56)
  • July 31— 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Grandview Main (Building #56)

*Early Advantage: Those attending the May 30 and June 26 Express Admit Days will have their application fee ($30) waived by the college.

What to Bring to Express Admit Days?

Government, state or school issued picture identification

New first-time students and recent high school graduates should bring the following if they are available:

  • Test scores (GED, SAT or ACT)
  • High school transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable)
  • College transcripts showing any college credit for Running Start or other programs, such as College in the High School, International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP). Official transcripts preferred.

Transfer students should bring:

  • College transcript(s), official transcripts from another college must be brought sealed
  • Placement scores from a previous college, if available

For financial aid assistance during Express Admit Days, students are encouraged to bring the materials listed below for themselves and from parents/guardians. These documents may not be available to all students, but do not let it discourage you from participating. Volunteers will be able to help get your FAFSA or WASFA application started with whatever information you can provide.

All information and documents shared with volunteers will be kept private and confidential. Information will only be used to help students and families apply for financial aid.

Students should bring the following for financial aid assistance:

  • Social Security number and/or card (if applicable)
  • DACA work authorization number and/or card (if applicable)
  • Driver’s license or state identification card (if applicable)
  • If you were born after January 1, 2000 bring parent(s) and their 2022 income data (W-2s or year-end pay stub and/or 2022 tax return)
  • If you were born before January 2000, are married, have dependents you support or are active in or a veteran of the U.S. armed services, bring your 2022 income data (W-2s or 2022 tax return)
  • A valid email address for establishing Federal Student Aid ID (FSA-ID)
  • Student’s tax return & W-2s if employed in 2022

Parents/guardians should have available the following for financial aid assistance:

  • Their Social Security number and/or card and date of birth (if applicable) 
  • Income tax return for 2022. If this is not available, students and families can estimate the information using 2023 year-to-date income information.
  • A valid email address for establishing Federal Student Aid ID (FSA-ID)
